You have to make sure that the infographic that you are making has information that is interesting to your target audience. It has to be something that they think is cool enough to share with all of their friends so that it can gain some viral momentum and take off.

Depending on the subject and the amount of research and brainstorming that is needed to complete the project it can range from a few hours to a dozen hours or possibly even more to get everything just right. The time obviously also varies from person to person depending on how good they are at graphic design. This should not turn people off though because the effects of a quality infographic on someones website can be astounding. An infographic can garner thousands upon thousands of shares on Facebook. If only a modest 2% of people who visit your site from the graphic purchase something you are looking at hundreds of sales which then leads to thousands of profits. Social shares have a huge positive impact on site ranking and thus your website will also bring in views from the search engines all because of that one infographic.

Seeding an Infographic

Now that the significance of a great infographic has been established, it is not just as simple as creating it and posting it on your Facebook page. Now comes the task of seeding your infographic correctly. In order to give it viral potential you must be able to seed your infographic in a very effective very quick manor so as to not allow people to steal credit for it. Always make sure that you have your infographic hosted on your website for at least a day or so before releasing it to the public on a hidden page that only Google can scan and see that you are the first to have this image. Also make sure that you have all of the social media buttons(Like, Share, Reddit, Dig, Google+, you can find them on pretty much any page with content on it nowadays) on the page with the infographic. This will allow quick and easy sharing of your graphic. Great ways to seed an infographic are posting it on your Facebook account, Reddit, Pintrest, Digg, Flickr and pretty much any other social media giant you can think of. You can submit it to a few image directories like FunnyOrDie or something else. The more the better in the world of search engine optimization.

Being able to get your infographic going and giving it momentum is key in having a successful launch. Once you can get it going however, the graphic will use its own momentum and infect the web. Going from group of friends to group of friends, from website to website and eventually it will have tens of thousands of views if done correctly.
